In the early 1940s Trifari produced a jelly belly poodle fur clip that looked like this poodle with the stamp, Pat. Pend., Trifari with the crown over the T and the stamp, "Sterling." This is the rarest and most collectible of the jelly belly poodles. In the 1950s the poodle was reproduced as a brooch, not a fur clip with only the stamp, "Pat. Pend." There has been controversy over who actually produced the 50s brooch, nonetheless the exact same poodle as the one shown here sold for $889.00 at a Skinner's auction. This elegant poodle, in excellent condition, measures 2 1/2" in length and 2 1/4" in width. It has a round lucite body with black enamel and twinkling pave set faux diamonds on its legs. The face ear and puff tail are detailed with faux diamonds and a ruby red rhinestone defines its eye. It certainly is worthy of the title, "Best in Show!" This is a wonderful opportunity to own a collectible that rarely becomes available. I am pricing this fairly since I know this is from the 1950s and not an original sterling clip from the 1940s. It comes in a black velvet box and you will fall in love with this elegant poodle the minute you lay eyes on it.
